Auf der anderen Seite soll sie Zuarbeiten für die Querschnittsthemen der Allianz-Initiative leisten. Dies betrifft u. a. Fragen zum Open Access Gold Publizieren, zu Nutzungsrechten an Publikationen und Forschungsdaten, zur langfristigen Finanzierung von Open Access Community Services und zum unabdingbaren Zweitveröffentlichungsrecht.

The European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) is envisaged as a stakeholder-driven infrastructure servicing science and innovation. More than a data repository, it will comprise technical elements of connectivity, hardware, repositories, data formats and API’s and it will offer access to a wide range of user-oriented services, data-management, associated HPC analytics environments, stewardship services and, notably, expertise. The EOSC is envisaged as a publicly governed endeavor, but given the scale foreseen and the need for long-term sustainability, parts of it will be realized in collaboration with the industry. High performance analytics environments and services may or may not be part of the EOSC, but will largely develop on top of well-defined and stable EOSC APIs.

M. Eve. (2014)Open Access; If you work in a university, you are almost certain to have heard the term 'open access' in the past couple of years. You may also have heard either that it is the utopian answer to all the problems of research dissemination or perhaps that it marks the beginning of an apocalyptic new era of 'pay-to-say' publishing. In this book, Martin Paul Eve sets out the histories, contexts and controversies for open access, specifically in the humanities. Broaching practical elements alongside economic histories, open licensing, monographs and funder policies, this book is a must-read for both those new to ideas about open-access scholarly communications and those with an already keen interest in the latest developments for the humanities..
K. Fitzpatrick. New York University Press, New York, NY u.a., (2011)Formerly CIP Uk. - Includes bibliographical references and index; Äcademic institutions are facing a crisis in scholarly publishing at multiple levels: presses are stressed as never before, library budgets are squeezed, faculty are having difficulty publishing their work, and promotion and tenure committees are facing a range of new ways of working without a clear sense of how to understand and evaluate them. Planned Obsolescence is both a provocation to think more broadly about the academy's future and an argument for reconceiving that future in more communally-oriented ways. Facing these issues head-on, Kathleen Fitzpatrick focuses on the technological changes--especially greater utilization of internet publication technologies, including digital archives, social networking tools, and multimedia--necessary to allow academic publishing to thrive into the future. But she goes further, insisting that the key issues that must be addressed are social and institutional in origin. Springing from original research as well as Fitzpatrick's own hands-on experiments in new modes of scholarly communication through MediaCommons, the digital scholarly network she co-founded, Planned Obsolescence explores these aspects of scholarly work, as well as issues surrounding the preservation of digital scholarship and the place of publishing within the structure of the contemporary university. Written in an approachable style designed to bring administrators and scholars into a conversation, Planned Obsolescence explores both symptom and cure to ensure that scholarly communication will remain relevant in the digital future. A. Oberländer, und T. Reimer (Hrsg.) MDPI - Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute, Basel, (2019)English; Libraries are places of learning and knowledge creation. Over the last two decades, digital technology—and the changes that came with it—have accelerated this transformation to a point where evolution starts to become a revolution. The wider Open Science movement, and Open Access in particular, is one of these changes and is already having a profound impact. Under the subscription model, the role of libraries was to buy or license content on behalf of their users and then act as gatekeepers to regulate access on behalf of rights holders. In a world where all research is open, the role of the library is shifting from licensing and disseminating to facilitating and supporting the publishing process itself. This requires a fundamental shift in terms of structures, tasks, and skills. It also changes the idea of a library’s collection. Under the subscription model, contemporary collections largely equal content bought from publishers. Under an open model, the collection is more likely to be the content created by the users of the library (researchers, staff, students, etc.), content that is now curated by the library.Instead of selecting external content, libraries have to understand the content created by their own users and help them to make it publicly available—be it through a local repository, payment of article processing charges, or through advice and guidance. Arguably, this is an overly simplified model that leaves aside special collections and other areas. Even so, it highlights the changes that research libraries are undergoing, changes that are likely to accelerate as a result of initiatives such as Plan S.This Special Issue investigates some of the changes in today’s library services that relate to open access.
