Plenary Meetings, taking place every year in September, comprise of
– working meetings of the subgroups,
– mutual information of members by reports from member-countries,
– reports of subgroup chairmen,
– presentations of technical papers,
– technical visits to industrial companies and/or research laboratories of Universities
– with additional cultural visits if appropriate.
Die Gesellschaft zur Erforschung der Demokratiegeschichte widmet sich insbesondere zwei Zielen. Zum einen setzt sie sich für die Förderung von Wissenschaft und Forschung ein.
Seit dem 1. Juni 2007 hat ACIPSS ein in seiner Ausrichtung wohl einmaliges Magazin, das Journal for Intelligence, Propaganda and Security Studies (JIPSS) anzubieten. Die erste Ausgabe von JIPSS wurde anlässlich der fünften Arbeitstagung von ACIPSS am 1. Juni in Graz vorgestellt. Neben wissenschaftlichen Beiträgen zu den drei Säulen von ACIPSS (Geheimdienste, Propaganda, Sicherheit) gibt es noch folgende Rubriken: Editoral, Interviews sowie Book/Media Reviews.
Ziel des Projekts ist es, alle einschlägigen Texte und Audio-Überlieferungen in einer wissenschaftlich zuverlässigen Form nutzbar zu machen. Das von der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft auf sieben Jahre angelegte Vorhaben ist ein Verbundprojekt des Instituts für Zeitgeschichte München-Berlin in Zusammenarbeit mit der Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main, der Philipps-Universität Marburg, der Stiftung Deutsches Rundfunkarchiv Frankfurt am Main/Potsdam-Babelsberg und dem Leibniz-Institut für Deutsche Sprache in Mannheim.

On September 12, 2024, Lieff Cabraser and co-counsel at Justice Catalyst Law filed a federal antitrust lawsuit on behalf of plaintiff Lucina Uddin in federal court in New York against six commercial publishers of academic journals, including Elsevier, Springer Nature, Taylor and Francis, Sage, Wiley, and Wolters Kluwer, on behalf of a proposed class of scientists and scholars who provided manuscripts or peer review, alleging that these publishers conspired to unlawfully appropriate billions of dollars that would otherwise have funded scientific research.
