Zusammenfassung

In today’s control applications the control system’s knowledge of the machine tool behaviour is very restricted. This prevents the control system from detecting and reacting adequately on different impacts and disturbances of the machine tool. By connecting the control system to a real-time capable model of the machine tool, additional information in terms of machine dynamics and machine geometry is made available to the control system. Especially in high performance machining applications, this additional knowledge can be used for more efficient and safer ways of operating machine tools. This paper introduces and discusses two applications based on real-time capable machine tool models inside the control system: online collision protection and online monitoring of the machine tool’s behaviour
