Abstract
This paper discusses a prototype of an adaptive glass façade. The load-bearing structure of the 4.9 m high façade consists of double cables. Horizontal deflections are reduced by placing active components in between two vertical cable lines. These components are acting in the direction perpendicular
to the cable axis resulting in a decrease of required prestressing forces and thus reducing the amount of material in the structure. The paper focuses on the structure and the functions of the adaptive façade.
