Zusammenfassung
Ph3P (I), Ph3PO (II), and Ph3PS (III) undergo 1-electron redn. at a Hg cathode in DMF to yield the corresponding radical anions. ESR spectra suggest a pyramidal geometry of the radicals. Redn. with K in Me2O at low temps. yields radical anions for II and III. I, however, reacts under Ph cleavage and PhK-assisted ring closure to give IV. IV is also obtained by alkali metal redn. of V.
