Rotary Shaft Seals at Large Dynamic Eccentricities

Abstract
The sensitivity of rotary shaft seals against radial vibrations was tested by means of a shaft having a triangular polygon-profiled cross seetion.
The results showed a characteristic maximum of leakage with reference to rotational speed. In a certain speed range the seals did not leak at alle Seals with “standard” lip profile are compared with extremely asymmetrie lip shapes.
