Abstract
(Pz)[W(CO)3(PR3)2]2 (R = CHMe2 and cyclohexyl; pz = pyrazine) illustrate a combination of s acceptor and p back-donating properties for these fragments. The complexes exhibit unique absorption spectra with a intense (e 77,000 M-1 cm-1) and narrow charge transfer band (band width 850 cm-1 at half height) in the near-IR region. Facile oxidn. of the chem. equiv. metal centers occurs in 2 widely sepd. (610 mV) reversible steps which set the boundary for organometallic analogs of the C. Creutz- Taube (1973) ion.
