An example is presented for the structure and design of a control system formetal formingwhich uses ultrasonic vibrations to support the forming process. The proposedSmith Predictorcontroller provides robustness against dead times and can even compensate theinfluence ofvarying dead-times. A description of the necessary interfaces for the dataexchange to and fromthe manufacturing process is also included
