Abstract
Closed loop production control is characterized by a modeling approach based on control theory, by continuous feedback of production states and by continuous adjustment of the control variables. Versatile closed loop production control is supporting local decision making through a distributed network of control-lers for the production units. The dynamic behaviour of this production control is discussed. If the production control is to be used at the level of individual production resources, the coordination process becomes more complex. For this type of decentralized control problem, a suitable multi-agent system architecture is presented. An outlook is given on an automatic optimization of the controller algorithms and parameters using evolutionary strategies.
