The present contribution discusses the load-bearing behaviour of segmented shell structures that are
joined using discrete connection points. A novel computational method is introduced, which enables
the design, the analysis, and the evaluation of these structures as an integrated process. The paper is
concluded by the description of an exemplary case study and the deduction of general design rules for
segmented shell structures.
