Abstract
Increasingly turbulent markets, a multitude of parts and variants as well as the resulting technical and organizational disturbances are challenging conventional approaches for production management. Versatility and adaptability are key competences in the market and have to be implemented throughout the company. On the shop floor level, closed loop production control and process planning are concepts with high impact. This article describes approaches for automatized decentralized production planning through cost-based versatile production control and negotiation-based automatized adaptive process planning. The practicability of the concepts is discussed, and possible combinations of the two approaches are presented and evaluated. Finally, the influence of these concepts on job control strategies used in job shop production is being discussed.
