Abstract
The internal structure of concrete components can be adapted to a given static load profile by the
introduction of mineral hollow parts of different sizes. The resulting components have a minimal weight and can be completely recycled since they consist of one material only. The following article provides an overview of the concept developed at the ILEK. It focuses on the description of the hollow parts’ geometry and their manufacturing process. The authors further present different approaches for sphere packing in building components and the general mass-saving potential of this method.
