The results of thisresearch project meet the increasing demands on the reliability of machinesand plants and also the frequent applications of numerical controls insafety-critical areas. In this case, reliability means the capability of anumerical control to function according to its specification during the entiremachining time. This is achieved by a redundant design and will be shown on ademonstrator. This demonstrator based on linux is introduced in this paper.
