Abstract
Fast and smooth ramp-up of production and adaption of production capacity tothe contemporary market induce new demands on the interaction of the twophases factory planning and factory operation as well as on their integratedIT-supported combination. This paper focuses on the IT requirements whichresult from the integration of factory planning and operation. Based onfunctional and on tool-oriented requirements, an information model is deducedwhich is qualified for the planning and for the operation of a factory. Theelaborated information model represents the logical basis for anobject-oriented data management as realised at the Universität Stuttgartwithin a research project in partnership with a medium-sized enterprise.
