Abstract

The aim of this bachelor thesis is the conception and prototype development of a time synchronization between adaptive and distributed Ethernet-networked electronic control units. First of all, an overview of the EKU Power Drives GmbH system to be synchronized is given. Afterwards, the necessary basics will be discussed and an introduction into possible protocols for time synchronization will be given. Based on a weighting table, the most appropriate protocol for the present case should finally be selected. In addition, the peculiarities of the used software stack for the electronic control units are described and the used hardware in the system and also for the prototype setup described. The following chapter details the selected time synchronization protocol and then take a closer look at the prototype construction. The implementation of the protocol and the steps required to port the software as well as the difficulties involved will be shown in the next chapter. In the concluding chapters, the evaluation will then be based on measurement data and a conclusion will be drawn before giving an outlook on the extension and optimization of the system.
