Abstract
The alkyls MR3 (M = B, Al, Ga, In; R = Me, Et) react with pyrazine and Na in THF to yield persistent radical complexes (I). Use of TlR3 leads to rapid deposition of Tl. The formation of these ionic complexes I is the result of MR3 dissocn. into +MR2 and -MR4 ions. All radicals were identified and characterized by ESR; the data reveal the influence of N-B back bonding in the B deriv. [on SciFinder(R)]
