Abstract

The higher the sheet thicknesses to be welded, the more difficult it is to produce weld seams of sufficient quality. One reason for this is that the stability conditions in the capillary change drastically with higher capillary depth. This paper shows how we can avoid this problem (but also other problems in laser welding) by learning from other welding processes such as electron beam welding or submerged arc welding.
