Abstract
This paper presents an air-core toroidal transformer concept, which offers the ability to integrate the power electronic circuit of a converter into the transformer structure. Air-core magnetic components in high-frequency power converters give the advantage of no core losses. The transformer is designed with the help of a magnetic circuit model verified with a finite-element method simulation. The analytic and measured results of a prototype are compared.
