Abstract
Redn. of I (Z = bond or O atom) with K/crown ether produced stable radical anions, whereas II did not undergo similar redn. and Me3SiOC6H4SiMe3-p and (C6H4OSiMe3-p)2 underwent deoxidn. Comparison of the ESR coupling consts. of the radical cations shows that Me2Si is electron-accepting and Me3SiO is electron-donating. on SciFinder(R)
