A new low cost concept for the measurement of liquid volume

Abstract
This paper presents two cheap methods for measuring the volume of liquid using microchannels in plastic chips. In both methods the liquid moves after injection into the channel according to capillary force. Using a defined cross-section, the liquid volume can be determined by detecting the length of the liquid filled channel. To get an error estimate of this method a first theoretical approach for evaporation influence was made.
