Provided are: a polymer gel for a medium, in which the hardness of the polymer gel can be easily and reversibly changed, and the shape of cells can be controlled according to said hardness; a medium; and a method for culturing cells using the medium. The polymer gel for a medium contains a solvent and a crosslinked structure crosslinked by a reversible bond. The hardness of the polymer gel for a medium can easily and reversibly changed. Thus, by using the polymer gel for a medium according to the present invention, the shape and function of cells can be reversibly controlled according to said hardness.
