Abstract

In this paper, we present a quadrature receiver for nuclear magnetic resonance applications. The receiver consists of a detection coil, a tuning capacitor, a low-noise amplifier, and quadrature down-conversion mixer with the corresponding baseband amplification stages. The quadrature local oscillator signals are generated on-chip from an external reference. The on-chip gain is 75dB and the input referred voltage noise density is 0.4nV/√Hz. The chip is realized in a 0.13μm IBM CMOS technology, consumes 45mA from a 1.8V supply and occupies an area of 600μm by 600 μm.
