Extremely long-wavelength charge-transfer absorption of binuclear complexes with azo-modified 2,2'-bipyridyl ligands

Abstract

M(CO)42L (M = Mo, W; L = 3,6-bis(2-pyridyl)-1,2,4,5-tetrazine), fac-Mn(CO)3Br2L, Ru(bpy)22L(PF6)4 (bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine), Mo(CO)42L1 (L1 = azo-2,2'-dipyridine), and Ru(bpy)22L1(PF6)4 were prepd. The long wavelength charge-transfer absorption max. is obsd. in the near-IR region for all the complexes. M(CO)42L, Ru(bpy)22L(PF6)4, and Mo(CO)42L1 were reduced electrochem. at $\sim$0 V. The complexes were characterized by NMR spectra. on SciFinder(R)
