Abstract
This paper presents a new control co-design optimization (CCDO) framework to integrate controller-agnostic, nonlinear viability constraints informed by the solutions to optimal control problems into the multidisciplinary design process. To implement the optimization, procedures to evaluate the sensitivity of the controllability constraint to variations in the design are defined. Two supersonic aircraft examples associated with low-speed flight regime constraints illustrate the new methodology and the steps involved in the process.
