Recently, eye\n tracking has also become popular to analyze visual strategies of users\n in this context. This has added another modality and more data, which\n requires special visualization techniques to analyze this data. However,\n only few approaches exist that aim at an integrated analysis of multiple\n concurrent evaluation procedures. The variety, complexity, and sheer\n amount of such coupled multi-source data streams require a visual\n analytics approach. Our approach provides a highly interactive\n visualization environment to display and analyze thinking aloud,\n interaction, and eye movement data in close relation. Automatic pattern\n finding algorithms allow an efficient exploratory search and support the\n reasoning process to derive common eye-interaction-thinking patterns\n between participants. In addition, our tool equips researchers with\n mechanisms for searching and verifying expected usage patterns. We apply\n our approach to a user study involving a visual analytics application\n and we discuss insights gained from this joint analysis. We anticipate\n our approach to be applicable to other combinations of evaluation\n techniques and a broad class of visualization applications.",

Powerful systems have been\n built to support various types of bibliographic analysis, but they\n require some training and cannot be used to disseminate the insights\n gained. In contrast, we focused on developing a more accessible visual\n analytics system, called SurVis, that is ready to disseminate a\n carefully surveyed literature collection. The authors of a survey may\n use our Web-based system to structure and analyze their literature\n database. Later, readers of the survey can obtain an overview, quickly\n retrieve specific publications, and reproduce or extend the original\n bibliographic analysis. Our system employs a set of selectors that\n enable users to filter and browse the literature collection as well as\n to control interactive visualizations. The versatile selector concept\n includes selectors for textual search, filtering by keywords and\n meta-information, selection and clustering of similar publications, and\n following citation links. Agreement to the selector is represented by\n word-sized sparkline visualizations seamlessly integrated into the user\n interface. Based on an analysis of the analytical reasoning process. we\n derived requirements for the system. We developed the system in a\n formative way involving other researchers writing literature surveys. A\n questionnaire study with 14 visual analytics experts confirms that\n SurVis meets the initially formulated requirements.",
