They allow for local differentiation of building components that enable buildings that were unthinkable a few years earlier. However, to fully exploit the potential of computational fabrication, a new paradigm in engineering is necessary. Today, the quantitative prediction of integrity by calculation of stresses and deformations is conceived as an indispensable prerequisite for any building construction. However, each simulation is only valid within certain boundary conditions, often not able to cope with advanced material systems. Besides expressing the personal opinion that such sharing would be advantageous for the field, the urgency mostly arises from the danger that funding agencies or other institutions would otherwise set standards without proper community input. This paper is in part a plea for community action in that direction. Aufbauend auf dem baukastenbasierten mechatronischen Engineering wird eine Methode vorgeschlagen, welche die Bildung von Varianten mit Hilfe von Bibliotheken zur Problembeschreibung intuitiv ermöglichen soll. Es wird eine Beispielapplikation vorgestellt, anhand welcher die Einsetzbarkeit der Methodeuntersucht wird. In this paper a concept is introduced, which shall increase the validity of offers for machinery and equipment through a simulation-based comparison of variants. Based on modular mechatronic engineering a method is proposed, that will allow the intuitive creation of variants with the help of problem description libraries.
