The digold(III) complex (\textgreek{m}-L)[AuCl2]2 was obtained from KAuCl4 either by using H2L/NaOH or through a ring-opening/hydrolysis reaction of 3,6-bis(2-pyridyl)-1,2,4,5-tetrazine (bptz), as similarly obsd. recently with CuII. The crystal structure of (\textgreek{m}-L)[AuCl2]2 exhibits bis(N,N')-coordination; two perpendicular mol. halves with uncoordinated carbonyl functions are present which explains the relatively short Au-Au distance of 3.974 {\AA}.
