Trajectories of the Earth System in the Anthropocenehttps://puma.ub.uni-stuttgart.de/bibtex/2e2e83618f3c480ca60f02660bf372a2c/droesslerdroessler2022-01-09T23:21:02+01:00erderwärmung klima klimawandel politik prognose W. Crossing the threshold would lead to a much higher global average temperature than any interglacial in the past 1.2 million years and to sea levels significantly higher than at any time in the Holocene. We examine the evidence that such a threshold might exist and where it might be. If the threshold is crossed, the resulting trajectory would likely cause serious disruptions to ecosystems, society, and economies. Collective human action is required to steer the Earth System away from a potential threshold and stabilize it in a habitable interglacial-like state. Such action entails stewardship of the entire Earth System{\textemdash}biosphere, climate, and societies{\textemdash}and could include decarbonization of the global economy, enhancement of biosphere carbon sinks, behavioral changes, technological innovations, new governance arrangements, and transformed social values.Energiepolitik unter Strom: Alternativen der Stromerzeugung im Akzeptanztesthttps://puma.ub.uni-stuttgart.de/bibtex/29e4523b7da4df90773277785a3faeca0/ziriuszirius2021-04-23T17:42:58+02:00Bürgerbeteiligung Energiepolitik Klimaschutz Klimawandel Transformation from:oliverscheel myown zfb-e D. The investigation seeks to analyze informed rather than mere opinion-based public preferences towards electricity technologies and portfolios against the background of climate mitigation options. In order to compare Germany with its strong renewable energy focus with a more fossil fuel- and nuclear-oriented country, the study presented replicates a research carried out in the USA in order to deliver data enabling such comparison. A special focus is on assessing attitudes and opinions towards carbon capture and storage as a low-carbon technology option.Public evaluation of electricity technologies and future low-carbon portfolios in Germany and the USA | SpringerLinkTesting the value of public participation in Germany: Theory, operationalization and a case study on the evaluation of participationhttps://puma.ub.uni-stuttgart.de/bibtex/2e4dafba92dbf58b6e14a60ce0acb4dc6/ziriuszirius2021-04-23T17:42:16+02:00bürgerbeteiligung energiepolitik from:oliverscheel klimawandel myown zfb-e R. Both involve social conflicts regarding technical feasibility, norms, and values. Technological expertise alone is insufficient to resolve these normative questions and conflicts. In addition to technological expertise, social and communicative competence is therefore needed to deal with the social and cultural challenges of an energy transition. One method to cope with conflicts that arise as a result of the energy transition refers to the use of citizen participation. Many analysts of participatory processes suggest that participation, if done properly, enhances acceptability and legitimacy of a transition process, contributes to improved efficiency of decisions, and promotes factual knowledge. This paper analyses and discusses these anticipated positive effects within a theoretical framework and a corresponding empirical case study.}Testing the value of public participation in Germany: Theory, operationalization and a case study on the evaluation of participation :: IASSpublicFokusgruppen im Mixed-Method-Design: Kombination einer standardisierten und qualitativen Erhebung.https://puma.ub.uni-stuttgart.de/bibtex/266adf09de013eed928d50942a10ba3f0/ziriuszirius2021-04-23T17:41:17+02:00energiepolitik from:oliverscheel klimawandel myown zfb-m zfb-p D. Beteiligungsformaten im Bereich der Wissenschaftskommunikation. This report summarizes the research results of an empirical comparison of seven participatory methods within the field of science communication. Depending on the participatory method, citizens or pupils participated in the events. The impact study focuses on the question, whether the participation in the events strengthens the knowledge of the participants and their capacity to judge about complex scientific topics discussed in the events. Other research questions are whether the participation in the events enhanced the interest in the topic discussed or in scientific topics at all as well as whether the participation in the events influenced attitudes on scientists, science or technologies. Beside the impact on participants such as citizens or pupils, the research investigates effects on scientists, who participated in the events as advisers of the participants. Some events triggered external effects outside the dialogue processes, what also will be investigated by the study. Based on the empirical findings, the report develops a decision scheme. This scheme aims on supporting organizers to select participatory methods that fit best to objectives and frame conditions. The report provides detailed recommendations how to conduct participatory events.OPUS: Zur Wirkung und Effektivität von Dialog- und BeteiligungsformatenFokusgruppen im Mixed-Method-Design : Kombination einer standardisierten und qualitativen Erhebung.https://puma.ub.uni-stuttgart.de/bibtex/28cdca18ea4411259f5835fb0df0a17b5/oliverscheeloliverscheel2020-10-13T14:17:17+02:00energiepolitik klimawandel myown D. This paper analyses and discusses these anticipated positive effects within a theoretical framework and a corresponding empirical case study.}Testing the value of public participation in Germany: Theory, operationalization and a case study on the evaluation of participation :: IASSpublicPublic evaluation of electricity technologies and future low-carbon portfolios in Germany and the USAhttps://puma.ub.uni-stuttgart.de/bibtex/2ce0dea5d65191bf72af76db176a056e2/oliverscheeloliverscheel2020-10-13T14:06:56+02:00bürgerbeteiligung energiepolitik klimaschutz klimawandel myown D. A special focus is on assessing attitudes and opinions towards carbon capture and storage as a low-carbon technology option.Public evaluation of electricity technologies and future low-carbon portfolios in Germany and the USA | SpringerLinkEnergiepolitik unter Strom : Alternativen der Stromerzeugung im Akzeptanztesthttps://puma.ub.uni-stuttgart.de/bibtex/230254cc2bb8913e33a91f58d34a0e7c4/oliverscheeloliverscheel2020-10-13T14:03:41+02:00Bürgerbeteiligung Energiepolitik Klimaschutz Klimawandel Transformation myown D.
