Abstract

We report on the demonstration of a symmetrically cooled thin-disk laser concept using Ti:sapphire for the gain medium and plano-convex shaped single crystal diamond as intracavity heat spreaders. This allowed us to increase the absorbed pump intensity by at least a factor of five compared to a previously reported Ti:sapphire thin-disk oscillator.
