Abstract

The photoelectron spectrum and 1-electron-redn. behavior of I were compared with those of isoelectronic duroquinone. While the latter forms a very stable anion radical (durosemiquinone), the radical anion of I was obsd. only as a short-lived intermediate. In the presence of K metal, a second anion radical is formed, which is identified by ESR as the radical anion of 2,3,5,6-tetramethyl-1,4-diborine. on SciFinder(R)
