@inproceedings{utt11:_ontol_based_distin_between_polys_and_homon, abstract = {We consider the problem of distinguishing polysemous from homonymous nouns. This distinction is often taken for granted, but is seldom operationalized in the shape of an empirical model. We present a first step towards such a model, based on WordNet augmented with ontological classes provided by CoreLex. This model provides a polysemy index for each noun which (a), accurately distinguishes between polysemy and homonymy; (b), supports the analysis that polysemy can be grounded in the frequency of the meaning shifts shown by nouns; and (c), improves a regression model that predicts when the "one-sense-per-discourse" hypothesis fails.}, added-at = {2017-04-03T19:28:28.000+0200}, address = {Oxford, UK}, author = {Utt, Jason and Pad{\'o}, Sebastian}, biburl = {https://puma.ub.uni-stuttgart.de/bibtex/211627e6bbeb408870c1b706c07753cdf/sp}, booktitle = {Proceedings of IWCS 2011}, interhash = {3d50219d315eee654a57637977e82228}, intrahash = {11627e6bbeb408870c1b706c07753cdf}, keywords = {conference myown}, timestamp = {2024-02-22T12:35:42.000+0100}, title = {Ontology-based Distinction between Polysemy and Homonymy}, url = {http://www.aclweb.org/anthology/W/W11/W11-0128.pdf}, year = 2011 }
