Abstract

Not only AuI and HgII species but also CuI(SR) fragments can bind in a highly dissym. fashion to sym. diimine chelate ligands. The 2 + 1 coordination arrangement obsd. for the metal in two complexes (tmphen)Cu(SR) (I; tmphen = 3,4,7,8-tetramethyl-1,10-phenanthroline; R = 2,4,6-trimethylphenyl, 2,6-diphenylphenyl) is characterized by obtuse angles aN(1)-Cu-S \textgreater 159° and by two very different distances Cu-N(1) and Cu-N(2). I (R = 2,4,6-trimethylphenyl and 2,6-diphenylphenyl) are monoclinic, space group P21/n, R = 0.0501 and 0.0687, resp. on SciFinder(R)
